Kudumbashree invites logo for Kudumbashree Initiative for Business Solutions (KIBS) Society. Kudumbashree formed KIBS to provide various job opportunities to Kudumbashree members and thereby increase the labor participation of women. The selected entry will also get a cash prize of Rs.5000.

'Nalkam Oru Pusthakam Pallikoodathilekk' Campaign starts

Kudumbashree's 'Nalkam Oru Pusthakam Pallikoodathilekk' (Donate a book to School) Campaign has been started . The campaign aims at donating one book from every NHGs to the libraries of the nearby public schools and thereby make an opportunity for the intellectual growth of the younger generation. 
 
The campaign is being organized as part of the Reading Week Observance started on 19 June 2022. The NHGs may jointly buy/ collect a book and donate to the nearby public school. They can donate more than one book as part of this campaign. These activities are also carried out in various offices of Kudumbashree.

Safalam Cashew and Jeeva Honey included in 'One Station One Product' Programme of Southern Railway

Safalam Cashew and Jeeva Honey, produced by Kudumbashree entrepreneurs from Kasaragod are included in the 'One Station One Product' Programme of Southern Railway. Kudumbashree Kasaragod District Mission has set up stalls as part of the 'One Station One Product' project at Kasaragod and Kanhangad Railway Stations in collaboration with the Southern Railway. The inauguration of the stalls was held on 23 June 2022.The stall set up at Kasaragod Railway Station was inaugurated by Mr. Ram Khiladi Meena, Station Master, Kasaragod Railway Station and the stall put up at Kanhangad Railway Station was inaugurated by Mr. Prasanth, Station Master, Kanhangad Railway Station.
 
Now the travelers will have the opportunity to acquire the leading 'Safalam' cashew and 'Jeeva' honey during their train journey. A sales person each has been deployed at the stalls where various products of Safalam Cashew Unit of Chemmanad and the Jeeva Honey Unit of West Eleri Grama Panchayat are available. Kudumbashree Kasaragod District Mission aims to set up similar stalls at other railway stations in the district viz., Kumbla, Uppala, Ullal, Manjeshwar, Kottikkulam and Bekal in the future as part of the project.

Kudumbashree conducts State Level Essay Competition for College Students as part of Reading Week Observance

Kudumbashree is conducting State Level Essay Competition for College Students on 'The Role of Kudumbashree in Social, Economic and Women Empowerment' as part of the Reading Week Celebrations. The first, second and third place winners will be awarded cash prizes of Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.

 
The essay should use only a maximum of two thousand words. The entries should be sent by post or courier along with the name, address, phone number and the certificate of Principal / Head of the Department to 'The Public Relations Officer, Kudumbashree State Poverty Eradication Mission, Second Floor, TRIDA Rehabilitation Building, Medical College P.O., Thiruvananthapuram-695 011. The entries should reach Kudumbashree State Mission Office on before 2 July 2022. Entries received via WhatsApp will not be considered for the contest. Children / family members of Kudumbashree State-District Mission employees are not eligible to participate in the competition. 'Kerala Chicken' a big hit among the public: Sales cross Rs 100 crores

'Kerala Chicken', the project conceptualized and launched by the Government of Kerala to ensure the market of good quality chicken at affordable rates all across the state is being a hit among the public. The sales through Kerala Chicken outlets has already crossed Rs 100 crores. The project which was started during November 2017, is being implemented through Kudumbashree in 6 districts.
 
Until now, sales of Rs 100,09,29,097.52 has been recorded.  270 farms and 94 Kerala Chicken marketing outlets are functioning in 6 districts viz., Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kozhikode. Through Kerala Chicken, Kudumbashree was able to  provide Rs 9.36 crores to farm beneficiaries as farm allowance and Rs 11 crores to outlet beneficiaries.

British Deputy High Commissioner in Kudumbashree

Ms. Anna Shotbolt, British Deputy High Commissioner came to get acquainted with the women empowerment and poverty eradication activities being implemented in the state through Kudumbashree. She visited the Karuna Fitness Centre, a Kudumbashree Micro Enterprise functioning in Kazhakoottam Pallippuram ward of Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala on 7 June 2022. This was her first visit to Kudumbashree, as the British Deputy High Commissioner in charge of Kerala and Karnataka states.
 
Ms. Anna Shotbolt was accompanied by Mr. Manjunath, Political and Economic Advisor, and Ms. Upasana Srikanth, Inward Investment Advisor.  She visited 'Karuna Fitness Centre' with the aim of visiting the well - functioning Kudumbashree enterprise in the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation area. Smt. P.I. Sreevidya IAS, Executive Director, Kudumbashree, Shri. Jahamgeer.S, Programme Officer, Smt. Priya Paul, Mr. K.B Sudheer, Programme Managers and Smt. Sindhu Sasi, CDS Chairperson  received the delegation. 
 
Karuna Fitness Training Centre which functions in the Pallipuram Ward of CDS 1, Thiruvananthapuram Corporation is an enterprise launched as part of the National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) being implemented by Kudumbashree in the state. The enterprise is run by Smt. Sandhya, Smt. Valsala, Smt. Deepa and Smt. Sajitha, the members of Mahalakshmi NHG. 
 
The British Deputy High Commissioner and his team arrived at the unit and met the Kudumbashree micro entrepreneurs and Kudumbashree officials. In the ensuing meeting, Smt. P.I Sreevidya, Executive Director, Kudumbashree explained the major projects being implemented by Kudumbashree in the state, including the livelihood and social security sectors. Following that, Ms. Anna Shotbolt   also spoke with entrepreneurs, Smt. Sindhu Sasi, CDS Chairperson, Smt. Deepa Harinarayanan, Community OrganizerNULM, Smt. Ajitha L, ADS Secretary and Smt. Lekha Kumari, Member Secretary. She asked the entrepreneurs about the method of working of the Fitness Training Centre and what motivated them to start the venture. She also discussed about the role of CDS Chairperson.
 
Ms. Anna Shotbolt expressed satisfaction with the diversity of the programmes implemented by Kudumbashree in the livelihood sector and the activities of BUDS institutions in the field of social security. She was also impressed by the actions of NHG women, who rallied with a social commitment in surviving the natural disasters and the covid crisis. The socio-economic women empowerment activities, programmes and the activities of Kudumbashree National Resource Organization in other States were also explained to her. She said that the way in which women are democratically elected in the Kudumbashree three-tier organizational system and their progress and visibility in the political and social spheres is really commendable.

Kilikootam' -Three Day Summer Camp for Balasabha members organized

'Kilikootam', the three day summer camp for Balasabha members was organized at Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA), Thrissur from 27-29 May 2022. A total of 45 Balasabha members from across the state joined together at KILA, Thrissur and took part in the 'Kilikootam' summer camp. Shri. E. Santhosh Kumar, Writer inaugurated the three day camp.
 
Three Balasabha members each were selected from the districts and 3 members from the Balagothra Sabha as part of the Attappady Comprehensive Tribal Development and Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group Development Project.  The Balasabha members curiously listened the classes led by the subject experts and shared their ideas. The camp was organized as part of the efforts to empower the Balasabha members socially and academically. Through this camp, Kudumbashree arranged a creative platform for the Balasabha members to meet and share ideas with eminent personalities in various fields like art, literature, science, environment and society. The summer camp came to an end on 29 May 2022.

Kudumbashree Gothrakiranam Programme starts

Kudumbashree Gothrakiranam Programme has been launched as a new ray of hope for the tribal youth of Attappady, Thirunelly and Devikulam areas. This special programme aims at developing the skill set of the tribal youth, ensuring livelihood for them and thereby improving the quality of their lives. The State Level Inauguration of this programme was done by Shri. M.V Govindan Master, Minister, Local Self Government Department and Excise Department, Government of Kerala at the function held at District Panchayath Hall, Palakkad on 19 May 2022. Smt. K. Binu Mol, President, District Panchayath, Palakkad presided over the function. The guidelines of the Gothrakiranam Programme were launched by the minister at the function. 
 
 
The programme envisages motivating the traditional skills of the tribal youth knowing their employment needs, extending them skill training and connecting them with the local employment opportunities. In the first phase, 5000 beneficiaries will be identified and employment will be ensured for at least 500 of them. As part of this, Situation Analysis will be done at Attappady, Thirunelly and Devikulam blocks under the leadership of Kudumbashree. Based on this, the opportunities as per the availability of the natural resources and human resource at each hamlet will be identified and following that, beneficiary list and micro level plan will be prepared for them. Unlike the skill training programmes being implemented through Kudumbashree, through the Gothrakiranam programme, training will be extended in such a way that the traditional employment sectors among the tribals will be given more importance and equip them for self employment-waged employment sectors. More skill training will be extended to the tribal youth who are currently engaged in traditional product making as part of the Gothrakiranam programme, connect them with the tourism sector and local markets and thereby arrange more employment opportunities for them. Convergence with other skill training programmes other than Kudumbashree will also be ensured for the success of the programme. The skill training programmes will be formulated in such a way, ensuring the participation of the tribal youth.

Kudumbashree Silver Jubilee Year Celebrations starts

 Kudumbashree Silver Jubilee Year Celebrations has been kickstarted at Thiruvananthapuram. Shri. M.V Govindan Master, Minister, Local Self Government Department and Excise Department, Government of Kerala inaugurated the Silver Jubilee Year Celebrations of Kudumbashree, in the presence of 1070 CDS Chairpersons from across the state, at the function held at Girideepam Convention Centre, Nalanchira, Thiruvananthapuram on 17 May 2022. "Kudumbashree has raised the women of Kerala to the main stream of the society through relentless efforts of the last 24 years", the minister said. "Kudumbashree has played a prideful role in empowering the women of Kerala, socially and financially, equipped the women to enter into power, increase their visibility in the society and increased their intervening skills in social issues and these are the important milestones in women empowerment", added the minister.
 
"Kudumbashree has turned into an organization that plays an important role in strengthening the local economic development by securing various livelihood opportunities, skill training, housing, basic amenities and available of clean drinking water. Kudumbashree has a history of leading the society forward through selfless efforts and undoubtedly, Kudumbashree will become an important organization that play a significant role in building 'Navakeralam' (New Kerala). This women fraternity is implementing traditional and innovative projects in agricultural-micro enterprise sector and has extended support to the state in crisis situations. In addition to the successful implementation of various centrally sponsored programmes, Kudumbashree has grown into a National Resource Organization, that replicates the women empowerment- poverty eradication models of Kudumbashree in other states. Now, the next aim is to equip Kudumbashree to implement more comprehensive development programmes as per the need of the new era with the strength of the work experience of 24 years. Kudumbashree is now making efforts to extend livelihood to maximum number of people by converging with K-DISC and other departments", he added.      
 
"Kudumbashree had succeeded in bringing women who were stuck up in the households to better entrepreneurs and had also in equipping the women mentally and intellectually and make them effectively intervene in the developmental activities of the state", said Dr. R Bindu, Minister for Higher Education and Social Justice, Government of Kerala, who presided over the function.         
 
"Kudumbashree had taught thousands of women to fight back poverty and live with pride and thereby was able to make a revolutionary change in the social scenario of Kerala", said Smt. J. Chinchurani Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development, Government of Kerala.
 
Smt. P.I Sreevidya IAS, Executive Director, Kudumbashree welcomed the gathering. Chairman, Vice Chairman and senior officials from Sunder Nagar Municipal Corporation of Himachal Pradesh who came to Kerala to study about Kudumbashree had felicitated Shri. M.V Govindan Master, Smt. Sarada Muraleedharan IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Local Self Government of Kerala and Smt. P.I Sreevidya IAS.

Kudumbashree's 'Vayomaithri' Programme launched for Geriatric Care

'Vayomaithri' Programme has been launched extending special care for  the geriatrics. The State Level Inauguration of the programme was done by Shri. M. V Govindan Master, Minister, Local Self Government Department and Excise Department, Government of Kerala, at the Cherukunnu Service Cooperative Bank Auditorium, Thavam, Kannur on 15 May 2022. 
 
The 'Vayomaithri' programme envisages making the Kudumbashree Organizational system, more geriatric friendly, as Kerala has the maximum proportion of elderly people in its population, among all the Indian states. Its during old age, everyone seeks more care, love and treatment. Kudumbashree had already implemented elderly NHG formation activities through 'Relationship Kerala' Programme to pay more attention to the elderly people. Now, the 'Vayomaithri' Programme is launched as part of this. 
 
CDSs from Wayanad, Kasaragod, Thrissur, Palakkad, Thiruvananthapuram and Kannur districts will be turned into 'Vayomaithri CDS' as a pilot project.  As part of the programme, various activities will be implemented in these CDSs such as geriatric education, formation of a minimum of 50 elderly NHGs, implementation of livelihood programmes, activities for the welfare of the elderly converging with the Local Self Government Institutions and other departments etc. These activities will be extended to the remaining CDSs after masking needed amendments as per the pilot project. The AGRSAR  Project of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India will also be implemented as part of this programme.
 
Announcements regarding the Inspire Programme launched as part of the 100 Day Programme of the Chief Minister (for micro enterprises, Harithakarmasena and other entrepreneurs), Jeevan Deepam Insurance Programme ( associating with Life Insurance Corporation and State Insurance Agency for Kudumbashree members) was also done at the function. Minister also distributed the Kudumbashree Naipunya Scholarship to the deserving trainees who are part of the DDU-GKY, Yuvakeralam Programmes being implemented through Kudumbashree.
