Rs 53.19 lakhs from Kudumbashree as the Second Phase Instalment to Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund as a helping hand for Wayanad

The cheque of Rs. 53.19 lakhs collected from Kudumbashree NHG members as the Second Phase Instalment for the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) for the rehabilitation of Wayanad was handed over to Shri. Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister, Government of Kerala by Shri. H. Dineshan IAS, Executive Director, Kudumbashree in the presence of Shri. M.B. Rajesh, Minister, Local Self-Government Department, Excise Department and Parliamentary Affairs Department, Government of Kerala on 11 December 2024. 
 
In the first phase, Rs. 20,07,05,682 was contributed to Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) during August 2024. Now the total amount contributed by Kudumbashree to  Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) is Rs 20,60,25,388.

Kudumbashree Kerala Chicken’s Branded Value Added Products launched

Frozen Value-Added Products have been launched in the market through Kudumbashree’s Kerala Chicken Project, which has gained wide acceptance among consumers. Shri. M. B Rajesh, Minister, Local Self Government Department, Excise Department and Parliamentary Affairs Department, Government of Kerala launched the products by handing over the products to Ms. P Sathi Devi, Chairperson, Kerala State Commission for Women, Government of Kerala during the function held at Nava Kairali Hall, Secretariat Annex, Thiruvananthapuram on 10 December 2024. Products such as Chicken Drumsticks, Boneless Breast, Chicken Biryani Cut, Chicken Curry Cut and Full Chicken have been launched in the market under the brand ‘Kudumbashree Kerala Chicken’. In the initial phase, the products will be available in Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kottayam and Pathanamthitta districts. 

 
The broiler chicken raised in the farms of Kudumbashree NHG members under the leadership of Kudumbashree Kerala Chicken Broiler Farmers Company will be transported to the plant of Meat Products of India operating in Koothatukulam, Ernakulam district, where they will be processed and packed. All the products will be available in quantities of 450 gram, 900 gram. By scanning the QR code included in the envelope, consumers can also understand which farm the chicken was raised in. In addition to the current marketing channels, it is planned to sell frozen chicken products in vehicles in each district under the name 'Meat on Wheels' in the future. This is expected to find a market for Kudumbashree Kerala chicken products in urban and rural areas.
 
The production and marketing of chicken value-added products is being initiated as part of the very extensive activities envisaged in the second phase of the project. In addition to producing at least half of what is required for the domestic market, the main goal of this phase is to increase the income of farmers.
 
Kerala Chicken is a project launched in the state in 2019 with the aim of providing clean chicken meat to the consumer at a reasonable price. Currently, 431 broiler farms and 139 outlets  are operating as part of the project in 11 districts. It is hoped that more women will get employment opportunities as the manufacturing and marketing of value-added products intensify.
 
Ms. P Sathi Devi, Chairperson, Kerala State Commission for Women, Government of Kerala, Ms. T.V. Anupama IAS, Special Secretary, Local Self-Government Department, Government of Kerala, Shri. H. Dineshan, Executive Director,   Kudumbashree Governing Body Members, Kudumbashree Programme Officers and others also attended the programme.

Micro-Enterprise Development in the Indigenous Area; Kudumbashree K-TIC Beneficiary Selection Progressing

The beneficiary selection as part of the Kudumbashree K-TIC (Kudumbashree Tribal Enterprises and Innovation Centre) Project to improve the livelihood of the youth in the indigenous area of Kerala and improve their quality of life is in progress in the districts. The beneficiaries of the K-TIC Project are 800 young women who will be identified separately from the indigenous area in all 14 districts of Kerala.
 
The project mainly focuses on enterprise development as a self-sufficient and long-term profitable livelihood through micro-enterprises that are started by understanding the local potential and ensuring market potential. The project envisages action programmes to enable knowledge, experience and capacity development for those who voluntarily enter the entrepreneurial sector. Kudumbashree will also ensure various ongoing support assistance to the entrepreneurs through the project, including financial assistance and incubation training.

Incubators are selected to properly implement the activities of the K-TIC Project at the field level. This incubation team is the main link in the implementation activities of the project. Incubators carry out all the important activities such as providing necessary training to mentors and beneficiaries and providing necessary facilitation for the implementation of the project. Those who have work experience in various training areas of Kudumbashree have been selected as Incubators. Skill training is being provided to members working as animators in tribal sanctuaries and support is being ensured for those who become entrepreneurs. Currently, 421 Animators have been trained to become mentors across the state.

A total of 277 youths have been selected from Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha and Kannur districts as beneficiaries of the scheme. The selection process in other districts will be completed by the end of December.

Results of the Kudumbashree State-Level Essay Writing Competition For College Students-Season 2 Announced

Mr. Abhiram Pavithran, a native of Varambur, Palakkode of Malappuram and a fifth-year Integrated MA Student at IIT Chennai, won the first place in the State-Level Essay Writing Competition organized for College Students in March-April 2024 under the auspices of Kudumbashree.
 
Mr. Alan Antony, a student of the Centre for Professional and Advance Studies at Thottakkad College of Teacher Education, Kottayam, won the second place. Mr. Al Amin. J, a native of Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram and a research student in the Department of Sociology at the School of Social Sciences, University of Hyderabad, won the third position. The winners will receive cash awards of Rs. 20,000, Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 10,000 each, respectively.
Ms. Nandana. M, a third-year B. A. Malayalam student at Nehru Arts and Science College, Kanhangad, Kasaragod, and Ms. Amit Jyothi U.P, a first-year B. A. Economics student at Government Women's College, Thiruvananthapuram, also won consolation prizes of Rs. 5,000 each. All the winners will receive a cash award, a memento and a certificate.
 
The winners were selected from around seventy entries received as part of the competition. The winners were selected by a jury comprising Ms. R. Parvathy Devi, Former PSC Member, Former Kudumbashree PRO and Media Activist and Shri. N. Jagajeevan, Consultant, Suchitwa Mission and Former Kudumbashree Programme Officer .

District Level Kudumbashree Bala Parliaments Progressing

Bala Parliaments, which are organized to provide an opportunity for children who are members of Kudumbashree Balasabha to understand the importance and scope of the democratic system, are progressing in districts across the state. District-Level Bala Parliaments have been organized in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Alappuzha districts and also as part of the Attappady Special Project implemented by Kudumbashree.
 District-Level Bala Parliaments will be completed in the remaining districts in the coming days. Then, the State-Level Bala Parliament will be organized at the Old Legislative Assembly Building in Thiruvananthapuram  on 28-30 December 2024A total of 165 children, including 11 children each elected from the District-Level Bala Parliaments and the Attappady Bala Parliament, will be part of the State-Level Bala Parliament.

Haritha Samrudhi Campaign Progressing across the state

Haritha Samrudhi Campaign is progressing across the state. Carrots, Cabbage, Radish, Cauliflower etc are grown in Kudumbashree's 'Haritha Samrudhi' Farms. As part of 'Haritha Samrudhi', the Winter Vegetable Farming Campaign of Kudumbashree the cultivation of winter crops including Radish, Cauliflower, Carrots and Cabbage is actively progressing across the state. Along with this, crops like lady's finger, tomato, spinach, lentils (yardlong beans), brinjal and cucumbers are also being cultivated.
 
68,474 women in 14,977 women farmer groups (Joint Liability Groups-JLGs) in 6037 wards of the state are cultivating on 1981.04 hectares. Haritha Samrudhi also aims to encourage winter vegetable farming at the local level, increase farmers' income and provide nutrition. Farmers will sell their produce directly through Kudumbashree Nattuchantha, Agri Kiosks and Marketing Fairs.
 
Apart from providing vegetable seedlings through Krishi Bhavans, the farmers are also being provided with necessary training at various stages from planting to harvesting in collaboration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research - Central Tuber Crops Research Institute (ICAR - CTCRI). 5631 training programmes have already been organized in 152 blocks. The Agriculture also has cooperation from the Employment Guarantee Scheme.

Entries invited for 'Sargam 2024'- State Level Story Writing Competition for Kudumbashree NHG-Auxiliary Group Members

Kudumbashree is organizing 'Sargam 2024'- State Level Story Writing Competition (Malayalam) to develop the creative potential of Kudumbashree Women and to raise them to the art and literary sectors. Cash prizes of Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners respectively. In addition, three winners will be given consolation prizes of Rs 2500 each. Winners will be given a memento and certificate along with cash award. The 40 people who submit the best stories will also have the opportunity to participate in a Three-Day Literary Workshop organized by Kudumbashree.

Monthly Travel Allowance of Rs 500 for Kudumbashree CDS Members

The Government of Kerala has decided to grant a monthly travel allowance of Rs. 500 to CDS members. It has fulfilled the long-standing demand of Kudumbashree. This is also a great recognition for the CDS workers who have taken a crucial position in all the poverty eradication and women empowerment activities implemented by Kudumbashree as volunteers. An amount of Rs. 11.02 crores is spent annually on this item for the 18,400 CDS members.
 
The CDS members working in each ward play a major role in the efficient implementation of various schemes implemented by Kudumbashree at the grassroots level. Most of them belong to the BPL category. They play a key role in coordinating the three-tier organizational activities of Kudumbashree and successfully delivering welfare activities to the grassroots. In addition, CDS members were the backbone of relief and rehabilitation activities during the floods and the Covid pandemic.
 
The announcement of granting travel allowance to CDS members was made in the 2021 budget. The Cabinet meeting held on 27 November 2024 approved this and the CDS members are excited to receive this as their New Year's gift. Rs. 11.02 crores has also been allocated for granting travel allowance to CDS members in the Plan Fund of Kudumbashree for the Financial Year 2025-26

Vengapally CDS of Wayanad receives ISO Certification for its operational service excellence

This is the first time in the state that a Kudumbashree CDS has received ISO (International Standard Operation) Accreditation. Vengapally CDS in Wayanad has won this award for its operational service excellence. The utilization of files, accuracy in maintaining financial transactions and registers, information about NHGs, accurate accounting system, efficiency, improvement of the office system to provide any information related to Kudumbashree within three minutes, and conducting internal auditing every six months to make the accounting system efficient, all these have led to Vengapally CDS achieving this accreditation.

Nayi Chetna 3.0 Gender Campaign begins

The Nayi Chetna 3.0 Gender Campaign organized by Kudumbashree in Kerala began in all districts on 25 November 2024. The National Rural Livelihood Mission has been organizing the Nayi Chetana campaign across India since 2022. This year's theme of the Nayi Chetana campaign is 'Against Gender Discrimination and Gender-Based Violence'. To mark the conclusion of the campaign, which will last until 23 December 2024, a Gender Carnival will be organized in 1070 Kudumbashree CDSs in Kerala.
 
The campaign focuses on NHGs, ADSs, CDSs, Gender Resource Centres and Vigilant Groups. Training on the POSH Act, which ensures a dignified and safe work environment for women in the workplace without facing harassment, and on forming an Internal Committee in all institutions will be organized as part of the campaign.
 
A variety of activities will be conducted, including open forums, special Grama sabha, group discussions involving men, boys and local leaders, gender quiz, honoring gender champions, hashtag, poster and mural campaigns, pledge taking, street plays, flash mobs, short film exhibitions and Rangashree Cultural Processions.
