Balasabha members from Mooliyar CDS flies to Thiruvananthapuram

A group of Balasabha members from Mooliyar CDS of Kasaragod district flied to Thiruvananthapuram. A total of 11 Balasabha members flied to Thiruvananthapuram as part of 'Akashath Oru Kuttiyathra' (A small journey in the sky), the special programme organized by Mooliyar CDS for the Balasabha members. 11 children who passed the test conducted for the Balasabha members who wanted to travel by air were selected for the trip and they flew to Thiruvananthapuram from Kannur International Airport on 8 February 2023. The group of children who made this air journey consisted of Visruth Prabhakaran, K. Krishnanenthu, C.K.P Sanith, V. Maya, K.R Shivaraj, Aditya Sathyan, T. Prajwal, B. Siva Krishna, Vidhu Vijay, Rishikesh and Deeksha.
 
The group left Mooliyar in a vehicle arranged by the panchayath and reached the Kannur airport. From there they took a flight to Thiruvananthapuram. The team arrived in Thiruvananthapuram and visited many places like the Kerala Legislative Assembly, Museum, Veli and Zoo in two days.
 
They reached the Kudumbashree State Mission on 9 February 2023 and visited Shri. Jafar Malik IAS, Executive Director, Kudumbashree and handed over the future work report of the Balasabha. They also shared their dreams, travel plans and studies with the Executive Director. Ms. Khairunnisa, CDS Chairperson, Mooliyar CDS, Shri. Binumon N, Member Secretary, Mooliyar Panchayath, Shri. Sreenesh, Balasabha Resource Person and Ms. Sakina P.S,CDS Accountant accompanied the children. The accommodation for the team was arranged by KSEB Employees Union.  Mooliyar CDS raised  the travel expenses for the programme through sponsorships and other activities. The Balasabha children returned to their home with the joy of realizing many of their childhood dreams.

'Noorang' Harvest of Thirunelly held in a festive mode

The 'Noorang' Harvest as part of  Thirunelly Tribal Comprehensive Development Project in Wayanad was held in a festive mode. The Noorang Harvest was held in the Irumbupalam Hamlet of Ward 9 of Thirunelly Panchayath of Wayanad. The Noorang project was designed with the aim of conservation, seed production and distribution of tubers, which had a permanent place in the food resources of the tribal group, and imparting knowledge about tubers to the new generation.
 
A total of 130 varieties of potatoes were harvested as part of potato cultivation by ten women of three Kudumbashree groups in  Irumbupalam on 4 February 2023. The harvest festival was inaugurated by Shri. O. R Kelu, MLA, Mananthavady Constituency inaugurated the harvest. Shri. P.V. Balakrishnan, President, Thirunelly Panchayath presided over the function. Ms. Saumini. P, CDS Chairperson, Thirunelly   welcomed the ceremony. Shri. P.K. Balasubramanian, Kudumbashree District Mission Coordinator, Kudumbashree Wayanad District Mission delivered the keynote address.

Sunny Kalpetta (Public Activist) paid their felicitations. Shri. Sai Krishnan T.V (Co-ordinator, NRLM Thirunelly) delivered vote of thanks. 150 people participated in the Harvest Festival.

BUDS Band Group from Kannur make history

BUDS Band Group from Kannur has created history. A group of students of BUDS School won the round of applause at the District Level Parade held on the 74th Republic Day at the police parade ground in Kannur district on 26 January 2023. The BUDS School students confidently paraded the band without missing a beat in front of Shri. K Radhakrishnan,  Minister for Welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes and Devaswoms, Government of Kerala and the District Collector of Kannur and set a milestone in the history of BUDS Institutions. They are a 14-member band from Pazhassiraja BUDS School, Mattannur who set a new model for the BUDS Institutions run by Kudumbashree in association with local self-government institutions. 
 
Mattannur Pazhassiraja BUDS School was able to form the first BUDS band group in the state as a result of the efforts initiated by the Kudumbashree Kannur District Mission, three years ago. The team led by Nishad includes Aparna, Fathimath Nafia, T. Nikhisha, Mubeena Fathima, Renjini, Manjusha Muraleedharan, M.P. Pranav, Muhammad Mushtaq, T. Akshay, M. Rajinas, Arshad, Jithin and Saneesh. Shri. A.K. Naveen Kumar is the coach. The Minister gave certificates and gifts to the group that completed the parade.
 
It was Kudumbashree Kannur District Mission that provided the funding for arranging the necessary instruments and training for the group. Kudumbashree Kannur District Mission also aims to extend the project to five other BUDS Institutions in the district. Kudumbashree Kannur District Mission and the staff including the teachers of Pazhassiraja BUDS School deserves a great appreciation and a round of applause for the BUDS Band group for taking a new step on a different path by extending a new spark of hope to other BUDS Children.

Kerala Chicken Project starts in Malappuram District

The 'Kerala Chicken' project being implemented by Kudumbashree has also been extended to Malappuram district. Shri. V. Abdurahiman, Minister of Sports, Minority Welfare, Hajj and Waqf Department, Government of Kerala performed the District Level Inauguration of the project at the function held at Sur Palace, Kalad, Niramaruthoor, Tanur, Malappuram on 4 February 2023. Currently, the project is being implemented in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Palakkad districts under the leadership of Kudumbashree.
 
Kerala Chicken is the project conceived and implemented by the state government with the objectives of finding a solution to the high price of chicken meat, providing clean chicken meat to consumers, ensuring a steady income for chicken farmers who are members of Kudumbashree, producing and marketing fifty percent of the broiler chicken market in Kerala within the state. Kudumbashree is implementing this project in collaboration with Animal Husbandry Department and Kerala State Poultry Development Corporation. The project activities are coordinated through the producer company, 'Kudumbashree Broiler Farmers Producer Company Limited'.
 
As of now, there are 303 broiler farms and 104 Kerala Chicken branded outlets. Through this, 400 families are also provided with regular income. 24,000 kg of meat is marketed daily through the outlets.

Kudumbashree Malappuram District Mission organizes Digital Literacy Programme

The Digital Literacy Programme being organized by Kudumbashree Malappuram District Mission has opened the doors of digital world to the NHG members of Malappuram district.  Though the NHG members have  smartphones, they use it only to call and talk to someone or to send a couple of WhatsApp messages. Through the Digital Literacy Programme, Kudumbashree Malappuram District Mission has opened the opportunity for 30,000 NHG members to acquire knowledge that will put the world at their fingertips, including banking services advanced by the digital world.
 
 This Digital Literacy Project for the NHG members who have not even heard of e-mail or e-services, who do not think that banking services can be done through their smartphones without standing in long queues, and who do not take advantage of its potential, is organized in association with P N Panicker Foundation. Kudumbashree Malappuram District Mission aims to complete the project which started on 15 January 2023 by this month.
 
Kudumbashree members up to 60 years of age can acquire digital literacy as part of this programme. Three Resource Persons each are identified from every panchayath and are extended training. It is through them, the project is implemented at the panchayath level. The project  will also have assistance from youth clubs, library councils and volunteer workers.
 
Resource Persons have been selected and trained in all 111 CDSs of Malappuram district. The activities of registering online training centres in CDSs have also been completed. The registration of learners using biometric devices provided by P N Panicker Foundation to the training centres is now in progress. After 10 days of registration and training, one can appear for the exam online. Those who successfully complete the training will also be awarded the NIOS certificate by the IT Ministry.

Kudumbashree to be an active presence at the International Theatre Festival of Kerala

Kudumbashree is all set to be an active presence in the 13th edition of International Theatre Festival (ITFOK - International Theatre Festival of Kerala). Representatives of Rangashree, the theatre troupe of Kudumbashree NHG members, will also participate in the National Theatre Workshop for Women organized as part of the Theatre Festival organized at Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA) in Mulagunnathukavu, Thrissur from 7 to 12 February 2023. Kudumbashree will also organize a National Food Fair where unique food products from different parts of the country will be available.
 
Rangashree is a theatre group formed by Kudumbashree with the aim of strengthening the presence of NHG women in the fields of art and culture. These community theatre groups of Kudumbashree are being used to deliver messages that enable social transformation. Rangashree also provides a great opportunity for NHG members who are interested in acting and arts.
 
Rangashree teams are present in all 14 districts. 28 Rangashree team members are participating in the workshop as part of ITFOK.  The workshop will be led by Ms M.K. Raina, Ms. Anuradha Kapur and Ms. Neelam Mansingh, Theatre Experts in National Level. The workshop is open daily from 8 AM to 11 AM. Later time is an opportunity to watch the plays and understand the preparations of the play firsthand. 
 
Organized with the message of 'Onnikanam Manavikatha' (Humanity must Unite), the International Theatre Festival will feature plays from different countries and plays from different states of India.

Kudumbashree Kannur District Mission's 'Kuttykkoottam' organizes cultural procession against drug addiction

Kudumbashree Kannur District Mission's 'Kuttykkoottam' organized cultural procession against drug addiction. The members of Balasabha in Kannur have indeed won the applause of their peers through the cultural procession organized to convey the awareness message that they should not perish under the influence of alcohol and should not become a victim of the terrible calamity that destroys the future of a nation by eating up generations. 
 
The theme of the cultural procession was 'No to drugs, Life is more important'.  The cultural procession mainly focused on the human relations spoiled by alcohol and drugs, isolation, and the dangers that alcohol and drugs create in the society. The cultural procession, which was able to make the audience take a firm decision not to use intoxicating substances, was also able to inspire people to make efforts to free themselves from it.
 
21 Balasabha members selected from various Kudumbashree CDSs of the district had lined up in the procession. The Cultural Procession which started from  LP School, Naduvanad, Iritty on 29 December 2022 was concluded at the New Bus Stand, Thalassery on 15 January 2022. Within 7 days ( 29, 30, 31 December 2022 and 7, 8, 14, 15 January 2023), they performed at 19 different locations in the district such as Aralam, Kolayad, Koothuparamba Municipality, Mathil GHSS, Kannadiparamba Deshaseva UP School. Art programs were presented in 19 centers of the district such as schools.
 
Shri. Binoy Kurian, Vice President, District Panchayath inaugurated the Cultural Procession. The valedictory function in Thalassery was inaugurated by Ms. K.M. Jamunarani, Chairperson, Thalassery Municipality.  Shri. Vazhayil Sasi, Vice Chairman presided over the function. Dr. M. Surjith, District Mission Coordinator, Kudumbashree Kannur District Mission, P.V. Pranav, Leader of the Cultural Procession also spoke at the function. Children who participated in the procession were given certificates and gifts.
 
The main programmes of the cultural procession include music programme by Dr Prashanth Krishnan, drama by Surendran Aduthila and presentation song composed by Balasabha children. The presentation song was sung by Ms. Sajini, Chairperson, Padyam CDS. Shri. V. K Kunjikrishnan Master and Shri. Ravi Ezhome, Théâtre workers jointly put together the cultural procession and brought it to the stage. Kudumbashree Kannur district team have indeed taken up the great task of creating awareness against drug addiction.

Kudumbashree Pathanamthitta District Mission organizes torch relay as part of 'Nayi Chethana' Gender Campaign

Kudumbashree Pathanamthitta District Mission organized torch relay as part of 'Nayi Chethana' Gender Campaign during 21-23 December 2022. The 'Nayi Chethana' Gender Campaign was conducted under the auspices of the National Rural Livelihood Mission. NHG members, general public and Balasabha members  took part in the procession. The torch relay was organized associating with the District Sports Council. 
 
Shri. Chittayam Gopakumar, Deputy Speaker, Kerala Legislative Assembly inaugurated the torch relay during the function held at SNDP Hall, Adoor on 21 December 2022.  Ms. Divya Reji, Vice Chairperson, Adoor Municipality presided over the function. The torch relay passed through the main 34 areas of the district namely Adoor, Pandalam, Aranmula, Malayalapuzha, Konni, Kodumon, Kozhanchery, Thiruvalla, Mallapally, Ranni Pazhavangadi, Chittar and Vadasserikkara and ended at Pathanamthitta on 23 December 2022. All participants were given certificates and plaques for the march which was concluded with a night walk and pledge.
 
In the opening ceremony, Shri. K. Anil Kumar, President, District Sports Council delivered the keynote address. Ms. Been Babu, Chairperson, Municipal Welfare Standing Committee, Ms. M. V Valsala Kumari, Chairperson, Adoor CDS, Ms. Geetha P. K, Chairperson, Pallikal CDS, Ms. Ajitha Kumari, Chairperson, Erath CDS, Ms Geetha, Assistant Secretary, Ms. Tulasi Suresh, Convener, Social Development Sub-Committee, Ms. Anupa P. R,  Shri. Shahjahan T. K, Ms. Sunitha V, Shri. Jason K Baby, Ms. Treesa S James, Ms. Gayathri Devi, Ms. Fauzia, Ms. Vidya, Kudumbashree officials, Shri. Ajiraj, Ms. Kitty, Shri Jefin, Shri. Vijay, Shri Sebin, Shri. Bibin, Ms. Tinu, Sports Council Members, CDS and ADS Members took part in the function. Kudumbashree Malappuram District Mission launches 'Yogya' Literacy Programme to make the NHG members pass 10th & 12th classes

Kudumbashree Malappuram District Mission is extending a golden ray of hope to the NHG members who were unable to complete their education due to various reasons, through 'Yogya', the literacy programme. A total of 1065 NHG members have registered to appear for the 10th and 12th exams during March 2023. Out of these, the examination fee for 731 candidates was found by Kudumbashree Malappuram District Mission through CDS own funds and sponsorship. This amount of Rs 13,05,650  was handed over to Kerala State Literacy Mission by Prof. R Bindu, Minister of Higher Education, Government of Kerala at the function held at Municipal Bus Stand Hall, Malappuram on 26 December 2022. 
 
Shri.P. Ubaidullah, MLA, Malappuram presided over the function and Shri. Haskar, District Programme Manager welcomed the gathering. Shri. Jafar. K. Kakooth, District Mission Coordinator, Kudumbashree Malappuram District Mission explained the project and Shri. Muhammad Basheer. M, Assistant Co-ordinator, District Literacy Mission delivered the introductory lecture. Shri. Mujeeb Kaderi, Chairman, Malappuram Municipality and Shri. N.M. Mehrali, Additional District Magistrate conveyed their greetings. Ms. Rubiraj, District Programme Manager, Kudumbashree  proposed vote of thanks.
 
Kudumbashree Malappuram District Mission has also submitted a 'Yogya' proposal to the Kerala State Literacy Mission to provide non-formal education to all NHG members below the age of 35 years to write the 10th and 12th Equivalency Examinations.

Kudumbashree Malappuram District Mission launches ' Kudumbashree Health Brigade'

'Had first aid been given on time, that life could have been saved. Everyone should learn first aid. First aid studies should be included in the curriculum itself. All of us must have heard about first aid and its importance at least once'. Realizing the importance of first aid, Kudumbashree Malappuram District Mission has come forward with revolutionary work after realizing the importance of first aid and has launched ' Kudumbashree Health Brigade'. 
 
The district team has started the activities of forming 'Kudumbashree Health Brigade' with the aim of equipping at least one member of a family in the district with knowledge of first aid and preparing them to work in emergency situations. In the first phase, 300 master trainees will be selected and will be trained in five batches. In the second phase, 30,000 volunteers are trained with the help of master trainees. Trained volunteers work as a team called 'Kudumbashree Health Brigade'. The health brigade will also be given periodic training to improve their skills to handle any emergency situation. So far, out of the total 15 blocks, the master trainees in nine blocks have completed their training. The training of the remaining six blocks will be completed in January.
 
Malappuram District team is conducting this activity in association with Department of Community Medicine, MES Medical College as part of FNHW (Food, Nutrition, Health, Wash - Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) programme. The third batch of Basic Life Support training programme was held at Municipal Town Hall, Manjeri on 18 December 2022. Ms. Hasina, CDS Chairperson, Manjeri welcomed the gathering and Ms. Rubiraj, District Programme Manager, Kudumbashree explained the project.
 
Shri. Jafar Kakkooth, District Mission Coordinator, Kudumbashree Malappuram District Mission, Dr. Ashwin Raj and Dr. Fatima spoke at the programme. Kudumbashree Block Coordinators, Office Staff  and health workers of MES Medical College Community Medicine Department  participated. Dr. Fatima Taslima gave a class on first aid to the trainees. Later, groups were formed under the leadership of  Dr. Ashwin Raj, Dr. Fatima Taslima, Dr. Athul Suresh, Dr. Ajith V, Dr. Nimshid, Dr. Shanub, Shri. Satish Kumar, Health Inspector and Shri. Robin, Medical Social Worker and the training was conducted.
