Kudumbashree's Lunch Bell Project launched

Kudumbashree's 'Lunch Bell' project, which distributes food to offices at the state level, was inaugurated by Shri. M. B Rajesh, Minister, Local Self Government Department and Excise Department, Government of Kerala during the function held at KTDC Grand Chaithram Hotel, Thiruvananthapuram on 5 March 2024. Initially, the lunch bell service will be available at Secretariat, Legislative Assembly, Vikas Bhavan, Government Offices in Public Office areas, Banks and other private institutions  in Thiruvananthapuram district. Through Kudumbashree's Pocket Mart mobile application, orders can be made on the same day from 7 am to noon.
 
In his inaugural address, the minister said that the lunch bell project will help in the economic empowerment of Kudumbashree women. The government's aim is to implement activities to increase income along with financial empowerment of Kudumbashree members by emphasizing on the basic objectives of Kudumbashree. The Lunch Bell scheme is a good example of that. Kudumbashree's signature is craftsmanship and reliability. The aim of Kudumbashree is to work with the hopes of the people. Kudumbashree has initiated various schemes to increase income. Agri Kiosks to provide non-toxic vegetables and fruits, K 4 Care scheme for geriatric-patient care, and the Rs 430 crore worth 'K-LIFT 24' (Kudumbashree Livelihood Initiative For Transformation) Project to provide livelihood and employment opportunities to three lakh people in the next one year are all schemes to ensure employment and income generation for women. He added.
 
The minister said that Kudumbashree will pave the way for major changes in the field of economic and social women's empowerment by providing better job opportunities including in the new technological sectors within the next 25 years and the government will provide all support for these activities. The minister also flagged off the first journey of the food delivery team comprising women selected as part of the project.
 
 Adv. Antony Raju, MLA presided over the function. In his presidential address, Adv. Anthony Raju MLA said that the activities implemented by Kudumbashree by combining science and technology with new income generating ideas are very helpful for common women. He said that the implementation of schemes to provide employment opportunities to women by emphasizing on the basic objectives of Kudumbashree is exemplary.
 
In his welcome speech, Shri. Jafar Malik IAS,  Executive Director, Kudumbashree said in his welcome speech that the best services including quality, fair price and distribution of food will be available through the Lunch Bell scheme. Along with meals, other food items are also in demand through the Pocket Mart application. Taking this into consideration, in the next phase, activities will be initiated to start food distribution in all government and private institutions in Thiruvananthapuram and also in Technopark. He added. 
 

The catering unit members and food delivery members who are part of the Lunch Bell Project handed over the lunch box to those on the stage including the minister. Adv. D Suresh Kumar, President, Thiruvananthapuram District Panchayath was the chief guest of the function. Ms. Geetha Nazeer, Adv Smitha Sundareshan, Ms. K.K Lathika, Dr. P.K Sainaba, Shri. kudumbashree K for Care District Level Training started

District-level trainings for the executives as part of the K for Care (Kudumbashree for Care) project, developed and implemented by Kudumbashree in the field of domestic care, have been started. The training is given in batches of 30 people. The training programme was first started in Thrissur district. The training is organized from 19 February 2024 to 4 March 2024 at Mother Hospital.
 
The training programme in Palakkad district was started on 26 February 2024. The training till 11 March 2024 is organized at PK Das Institute of Medical Sciences. The training in Kasaragod district will start on 29 February 2024. The training is organized in all the three districts under the leadership of Aspirant Learning Academy Private Limited. Expert training is provided on 31 subjects such as body parts and functions, healthy living and personal hygiene, patient's rights, infection control and prevention, eye care, wound dressing, catheter care, physiotherapy, insulin injection, patient transferring etc.
 
One of Kudumbashree's key interventions in the care economy is providing home care under one roof through K for Care. Executives trained by K for Care provide services in areas where a family needs the assistance of another person in daily life such as geriatric-child care, patient care, disability care and maternity care. Initially, Kudumbashree aims to train 1000 K for Care Executives.

Kudumbashree 'Digikkoottams' organized all across the State

Kudumbashree NHG members attended a special meeting-'Digikkoottam as part of the 'Digi Keralam' digital literacy project implemented by the Government to make Kerala the first state to achieve complete digital literacy on 18 February 2024. It was notable by the participation of dignitaries including ministers. Shri. K. N Balagopal, Minister of Finance, Government of Kerala, Shri. M. B Rajesh, Local Self Government Department and Excise Department, Government of Kerala participated in the 'Digikkoottam' of Chaitanya NHG of Pallikal North ward of Mylam CDS  in Vettikavala block of Kollam district.
 
Shri. M. G Rajamanickam IAS, Principal Director, Local Self Government Department, Shri. Jafar Malik IAS, Executive Director, Kudumbashree, Ms. Bindu G Nath, Panchayath President, Ms. Bindu R, CDS Chairperson,  Shri. Vimal Chandran, District  Mission Coordinator, Kudumbashree Kollam District Mission, Ms. Aneesa, Assistant District Mission Coordinator, elected representatives, CDS office bearers and Kudumbashree staff took part in the function.
 
The NHG members came to the 'Digikkoottam' with smart phones. Special meetings were organized in NHGs under Kudumbashree as part of 'Digi Week Observance' organized under the auspices of the Local Self-Government Department to make the Digi Kerala project more popular and to make more people be part of the project. The members watched the video tutorial. Digital volunteers have also registered. As a continuation of this, it is aimed to achieve digital literacy in all CDSs.
 
In the first phase of the Digi Kerala project, Kudumbashree workers, SC and ST promoters, Employment Guarantee Scheme members and students will be trained and data will be collected through video tutorials and then digital literacy activities will be carried out through specially trained digital volunteers.

Minister M. B Rajesh officially declared the Closing of 'Back to School' Campaign & launched K-LIFT'24 Livelihood Campaign

Shri. M. B Rajesh, Minister, Local Self Government Department & Excise Department, Government of Kerala  officially declared the closing of 'Back to School' Campaign and launched the K-LIFT'24 (Kudumbashree Livelihood Initiative For Transformation) Livelihood Campaign during the function held at Uday Palace Convention Centre, Kowdiar, Thiruvananthapuram on 6 February 2024. 
 
The Minister said that  K-LIFT'24 will become yet another historical campaign as it was launched during the official closing of the 'Back to School' Campaign itself. The K-LIFT'24 Campaign was officially announced in the Kerala Budget on 5 February 2024 and within 24 hours Kudumbashree was able to launch it. No such programme has ever been launched within such a short span of time. Now, Kudumbashree is going from poverty eradication to increasing income. He added. Kudumbashree is that  equipped. Out of the energy received from the 'Back to School' Campaign, Kudumbashree members are going to the K-LIFT'24 Campaign where they are going to make transformations happen. This will become a milestone in the poverty eradication activities of Kudumbashree. He added.
 
The Minister said that the 'Back to School' Campaign is an unparalleled historical movement. Just like the poets say, Kudumbashree has the legacy of 'golden touch' that everything Kudumbashree touches turns into gold. Kudumbashree gives 'a Kudumbashree touch' to every task they take up. He also said that 'Back to School' was a Campaign that was perfectly planned and executed and it was able to make a great movement in society. 'Back to School' Campaign could make a change starting from within the households itself. 38,70,794 Kudumbashree NHG members out of the 46 lakh NHG members became part of the 'Back to School' Campaign and secured 2 World Records. He added that no one except Kudumbashree can break this world record. 
 
The Minister handed over the certificates of the 2 World Records; India Books of Awards and Asia Books of Awards in the category of Largest Training Campaign Organized by Women in a Single State. He released the Souvenir of the Back to School Campaign and also released the logo and handbook of K-LIFT'24 (Kudumbashree Livelihood Initiative For Transformation) Livelihood Campaign, through which Kudumbashree aims to provide sustainable income to three lakh NHG members.  A short video on 'back to School' Campaign was presented during the function.
 
The Kudumbashree 'Back to School' campaign was launched on 1 October 2023 with the aim of strengthening the  three-tier structure of Kudumbashree and for equipping the NHG women to take up novel ventures in tune with the changing times. 38,70,794 NHG members became part of the campaign during the public holidays till 31 December 2023. As a continuation of the 'Back to School' Campaign, 2024 year will be observed as the Kudumbashree Livelihood Year.

The valedictory session started with Kudumbashree Mudra Geetham (Official Anthem) and Cleanliness Pledge. The District Mission Coordinators who played a key role in making the 'Back to School' Campaign was felicitated during the function. 
 
During the morning session of the programme, Shri. Jafar Malik IAS, Executive Director, Kudumbashree explained the milestones of the 'Back to School' Campaign. The CDS Chairpersons and District Mission Coordinators shared their experiences of the 'Back to School' Campaign. Following that, the Organization team made a presentation on the future programmes of Kudumbashree. The function was concluded with the cultural programmes presented by Kudumbashree NHG members and Kudumbashree Mission staff.

Kudumbashree launches Cafe Kudumbashree Premium Restaurants

Kudumbashree launched Café Kudumbashree Premium Restaurant to enjoy premium services and special dishes and unique local dishes prepared by Kudumbashree entrepreneurs. Shri. M. B Rajesh, Minister, Local Self Government Department and Excise Department, Government of Kerala performed the State Level Inauguration of the Cafe Kudumbashree Premium Restaurants at Angamaly, Ernakulam on 27 January 2024. Cafe Kudumbashree Premium Restaurants were also started at Guruvayoor of Thrissur district and Meppadi of Wayanad district.  

 
In his inaugural speech, the Minister said that these premium branded restaurants were started from the thought about making use of the trust and dexterity in cooking, the hallmark of Kudumbashree. Shri. Jafar Malik IAS, Executive Director Kudumbashree did the first sale of the 'Gandhaka Chicken' prepared by a Kudumbashree unit from Thirunelly, Wayanad. The Minister tasted this dish. The Executive Director also executed the first sale at Cafe Kudumbashree Premium Restaurant. Gandhaka Chicken is a new addition to Kudumbashree's signature dish list of Vanasundari, Solai Milan and Cochin Malhar.
 
Cafe Kudumbashree Premium Restaurant will operate from 11 AM to 11 PM. Kudumbashree's signature dishes are the main attraction. This Cafe Kudumbashree Premium Restaurant extends high quality services in all areas like parking, cleanliness, waste management, parcel service and online services. Shri. Jafar Malik IAS, Executive Director, Kudumbashree explained the project at the opening ceremony presided over by Shri. Mathew Thomas, Chairman, Angamaly Municipality. 
 
Ms. Rejeena T.M, District Mission Coordinator, Kudumbashree Ernakulam District Mission welcomed the gathering. Kudumbashree launches 'Nature's Fresh' Agri Kiosk Network

Kudumbashree launched 'Nature's Fresh' Agri Kiosk Network, which provides organic vegetables, fruits and other value-added products produced by Kudumbashree NHG members. Shri. M. B Rajesh, Minister, Local Self Government Department and Excise Department, Government of Kerala performed the official inauguration of the 'Nature's Fresh' Agri Nature Kiosk at Varkala Block Office, Cherunniyoor, Varkala on 25 January 2024. This Network of Agri Kiosks will be set up on a block basis. 11 'Nature's Fresh' Outlets were started at various districts across the state on 25 January 2024 itself. Wayanad district has the highest number of outlets. 4 outlets were started in Wayanad. Two outlets each were started in Kozhikode & Malappuram and one outlet was started in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta districts.

 
The Minister said that Kudumbashree is stepping into a new sector through 'Nature's Fresh' Agri Kiosk. In the first phase, the kiosks will be started in the Block Level. He also expressed his wish that may these 'Nature's Fresh' Agri Kiosks be extended to the Panchayath Level. Kudumbashree is a movement that redefined all the predefined norms of the society.  The Minister said. He also added that Kudumbashree NHG members across the state have learned new entrepreneurial lessons through the 'Back to School' Campaign.
 
100 Agri Kiosks will be set up in the first phase all across the state. Launched as part of the Farm Livelihood Programme implemented by Kudumbashree, these kiosks will make available for marketing the fruits, vegetables and value added products produced by the Kudumbashree JLG - Joint Liability Groups under each Kudumbashree CDSs in the respective block.
 
At present, 3,78,138 NHG members of 81,034 JLGs are cultivating a total area of 12819.71 hectares of land. These products were mainly sold through local markets and other marketing fairs. Agriculture Community Resource Persons will collect the produce and deliver it to the kiosks for marketing. An NHG member will be in charge of marketing the products at the kiosk.

Wayanad district bags the Overall Championship in 'Thillana', the State Level BUDS Festival organised by Kudumbashree

Wayanad district bagged the Overall Championship in 'Thillana', the State Level BUDS Festival with 43 points. Thrissur district came in the second place with 37 points and Ernakulam district came in third place with 27 points respectively. The closing ceremony of the festival was inaugurated by Adv. A. N Shamseer, Speaker, Kerala Legislative Assembly on 21 January 2024. He also presented trophies to the winners.
 
The State Arts Festival of the beneficiaries of BUDS Institutions for differently-abled students was started when Shri. M. B Rajesh, Minister, Local Self Government Department and Excide Department inaugurated the programme at Government Brennan College, Thalassery, Kannur district on 20 January 2024. There were 18 events in four venues.
 
On inaugurating the State Level BUDS Festival, the minister said that Sports Festival will be organized for BUDS School beneficiaries from next year onwards alike the Arts Festival. The Minister also inaugurated the Kudumbashree BUDS Themed Stall set up in the campus. Ms. P. P Divya, President, Kannur District Panchayath presided over the opening ceremony organized at Suryakanthi, the main venue of the Arts Festival. Shri. Jafar Malik IAS, Executive Director, Kudumbashree explained the project. Shri. P. Balan, Representative of Chief Minister's Constituency inaugurated the exhibition and marketing stall of the products made by the BUDS students. Ms. Shyamala, a student of Kolassery BUDS School presented embossing paint made by her to the Minister. Ms. Sniya Anish presented a dance performance of Kudumbashree Mudra Geetham and staff of BUDS School, Mattannur presented a musical sculpture 'Amma' in connection with the opening ceremony.

Kudumbashree to boost palliative activities through 'Njanumundu Parichranathinu' State Level Campaign

Kudumbashree is also becoming part of 'Njanumundu Paricharanathinu', the State Level Campaign organized from 15-21 January 2024 as part of strengthening palliative activities in the state. The message of this year's Palliative Day is 'I am here to care'. The aim of the campaign is to ensure everyone's participation to bring comfort to the inpatients and their families. As part of this, there is a special meeting on 21 January 2024 to discuss the issue of palliative care among more than three lakh NHGs under Kudumbashree in the state.
 
 Kudumbashree is tasked with working with various departments to ensure the necessary care and other support for inpatients across all local self government institutions. For this purpose, more than three lakh social development sub-committee conveners will be active in the field of palliative care. Through them registration of all patients requiring palliative care in each NHGs will be ensured. Also ASHA workers will provide care to all inpatients who require care in connection with the palliative care unit. For this, inpatients will be linked with volunteers in their respective areas.
 
Kudumbashree works with various departments like Health, Education, Social Justice, Local Self-Government, National Ayush Mission, Department of Indian Medicine, Homoeopathy, Indian Medical Association and voluntary organizations working in the field of palliative care.

Kudumbashree Product Branding: State Level Inauguration held

The State Level Inauguration of Kudumbashree Product Branding was held. Shri. M. B Rajesh, Minister, Local Self Government Department and Excise Department, Government of Kerala inaugurated the programme at Rose Launch Convention Centre, Malappuram on 12 January 2024. The Minister said that Kudumbashree products is capable of competing with big brands. 
 
He performed the State-Level Inauguration of the project to market 15 products such as curry powder, masala powders, grain powders etc produced by Kudumbashree entrepreneurs in a unified manner in the market. The project started in Kannur on a pilot basis is now extended to Malappuram, Kottayam and Thrissur districts. The project will start soon in two districts.
