Kudumbashree bags 6th Asianet News TNG Award

Kudumbashree has bagged the 6th Asianet News TNG Award. The Award given by Asianet News in memory of Late Shri. T.N Gopakumar, who was a prominent media personality and editor of Asianet News. The Award is in recognition with the overall contribution made by Kudumbashree to the self-sufficiency and empowerment of women. The Award consists of Rs 2 lakhs, a memento and a certificate. 
 
Kudumbashree was selected for the 6th TNG Award by Asianet News Editorial Board. Ms. Mallika Sarabhai, renowned dancer and activist will present the award at the function proposed to be held at Kerala Sahitya Akademi Hall, Thrissur on 4 February 2023. Dr. R. Bindu, Minister of Higher Education, Government of Kerala will be the Chief Guest of the function.

Kudumbashree shines in the 74th Republic Day Parade held at Delhi

Kudumbashree shines in the 74th Republic Day Parade held at Delhi. The Shinkari Melam performed by two Shinkari Melam units from Kannur district of Kerala and Irula Dance performed by tribal women from Attappady of Palakkad district were the main attraction of the Republic Day Tableau of Kerala, that focused on women power.
 
The Shinkari Melam was performed jointly by 12 women, out of which 8 of them from the Sapthavarna unit of Pappinisseri and 4 women from Penpolika unit of Mangattidam of Kannur. They were Ms. Sindhu Balakrishnan, Ms. Joshina Ashokan, Ms, Ramitha Ratheesh, Ms. Shailaja Rajan, Ms. Balaja Pramod, Ms. Rajani Soman, Ms. Lasitha Varadhan, Ms. Sajitha Aravind, Ms. Vijina Rajeevan, Ms. Vanaja Balan, Ms. Leela Chandran and Ms. Omana Pradeepan are the women who performed the Shinkari Melam.
 
Kudumbashree has been extending support to the Sapthavarna unit started in 2011 and Penpolika unit started in 2014. Kudumbashree Kannur District Mission had extended them relentless support when they lost the musical instruments during the unprecedented floods of 2018. The members of the Art Group led by Nanchiyamma, the recipient of the National Film Award for the Best Playback Singer had taken part in the Republic day Tableau. Ms. Pushpa, Ms. Vijaya, Tribal Animators of Kudumbashree Attappady Special Project. Ms. B Shobha, Ms. U. K Shakuntala, Ms. B Rani, Ms. B Sarojini, Ms. L Rekha and Ms. Gauri performed the Irula Dance.  Kudumbashree had marked their strong presence in the 74th Republic Day Celebrations of the country.

Sargam-2023' State Level Story Writing Competition for Kudumbashree women- Date extended till 6 February 2023

The date for submitting entries for 'Sargam-2023' the State Level Story Writing Competition for Kudumbashree women is extended till 6 February 2023.  The stories along with the author's name, address, phone number and a certificate of CDS Chairperson proving membership of Kudumbashree should be made available by post or courier. 'Sargam 2023- Story Writing Competition' should be written on the outside of the cover. The last date for receiving the entries in 6 February 2023.

Chuvad 2023' NHG Gathering creates history

'Chuvad 2023' Ayalkkootta Sangamam (NHG Gathering) held on 26 January 2023 created history adding more colour to the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of Kudumbashree. 'Chuvad 2023' has indeed made a mark in the history of Kudumbashree. The 'Ayalkkootta Sangamam' organized on the 74th Republic Day of the country made a new sense of energy among the Kudumbashree members. 
 
In most of the places, the stages were decorated using bio-degradable properties following the green protocol. Members started coming to the NHGs from morning itself as per the prior instructions given. 46 lakh women joined together under Kudumbashree which has won national and international acclaim for being the largest association of women in Asia. National flags were hoisted in 3 lakh NHGs in the state at 8 AM itself and every NHG sang the 'Sangamam' song written and tuned by themselves. together.  Following that they listened to the message of the Minister of Local Self Government Department, Government of Kerala through the official YouTube Channel of Kudumbashree.  
 
The discussion mainly held at the NHG level were the changes brought in by Kudumbashree in the lives of NHG members and in the society based on the experience of 25 years. It was notable that new suggestions came forward from the NHGs to formulate and implement new project activities as per the need of the new era. Also. discussions were held on the topics such as health, hygiene, cleans neighborhoods, developmental needs of NHG families and localities and reports were prepared. 
 
Shri. M. B Rajesh, Minister, Local Self Government of Kerala attended the NHG meeting at Thejas NHG of Palakkad South CDS of Palakkad and Dr. R Bindu, Minister, Higher Education and Social Justice Department, Government of Kerala attended the NHG meeting at Kairali NHG of Meenangadi CDS of Wayanad district. Adv. K. Rajan, Minister, Revenue and Housing, Government of Kerala became part of the NHG meetings of the Maithri NHG and Matha NHG of Nadathara CDS of Thrissur. Whereas Shri. Jafar Malik, Executive Director, Kudumbashree participated in the NHG meetings of Friends NHG of Thekkevila Division of East CDS and Vaishali NHG of Udayamarthandapuram of Kollam district.  Also, MLAs, District Collectors, eminent personalities from art and cultural sectors became part of 'Chuvad 2023'. 
 
Kudumbashree Auxiliary Group members, Balasabha members, Elderly NHG members, BUDS School children, Transgender NHG members and State Mission-District Mission staffs also became part of 'Chuvad 2023'.

Government of Kerala declares May 17 as Kudumbashree Day

Government of Kerala declared May 17 as Kudumbashree Day. Government Order regarding the same has been issued adding more colour to the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of Kudumbashree. As part of the completion of twenty-five years of Kudumbashree, the government has issued an order announcing that May 17 will be observed as Kudumbashree Day in the coming years. May 17 is the foundation day of Kudumbashree.
 
Kudumbashree, which started working in the state in 1998 with the aim of absolute poverty eradication and economic-social empowerment of women, will complete twenty-five years on 17 May 2023. Based on this, the Executive Director of Kudumbashree gave a letter to the government on 8 December 2022 requesting that May 17 be declared as Kudumbashree Day. The new announcement is in consideration with the letter given by the Executive Director of Kudumbashree.  
 
The government's new announcement will add momentum to the NHG meeting programs organized in all the three lakh NHGs of the state on 26 January 2023, starting with the Silver Jubilee celebrations. Kudumbashree is preparing to transform the NHG meeting into a strong step of the women's community in which 46 lakh Kudumbashree women participate at the same time with various programmes.

Kudumbashree is extending a golden opportunity for the public to take part in the vlog, reels competition in connection with the Kudumbashree Silver Jubilee Celebrations and to win exciting prizes. Vlogs, reels on any projects, activities, initiatives of Kudumbashree will be considered for the competition. Last date for submitting the entries is 8 February 2023.
 
Cash award of Rs 50,000 will be given for the best vlog. Whereas cash award of Rs 40,000 will be given as second prize and Rs 30,000 will be given as third prize. Cash Award of Rs 25,000 will be given for the best reel whereas cash award of Rs 20,000 will be given as second prize and cash award of Rs 15,000 will be given as third prize. Consolation prizes will also be given for best entries. In addition to cash award trophies and certificates will be awarded to the winners. 
 
The vlog should not exceed 5 minutes and the reels should not exceed 1.30 minutes. An applicant can submit one or more videos. The copyright of the video belongs to Kudumbashree and Kudumbashree shall not be responsible for any copyright claims or seeking approval from any authority.  Videos can be prepared in English and Malayalam.
 
The videos selected by the primary jury will be uploaded on the official YouTube, Facebook and Instagram of Kudumbashree State Mission. 30 percent weightage will be given to views. The winners will be determined based on concept, content, videography and views weightage.

Sargam 2023'- State Level Story Writing Competition for Kudumbashree NHG-Auxiliary Group Members

Kudumbashree is organizing 'Sargam 2023'- State Level Story Writing Competition (Malayalam) to develop the creative potential of Kudumbashree Women and to raise them to the art and literary sectors. Cash prizes of Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5000 will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners respectively. In addition, five winners of the consolation prize will be given Rs 1500 each. Winners will be given a memento and certificate along with cash award. Last date for receipt of entries is 25 January 2023.

Saras Mela held at Kottayam concluded

Saras Mela held at Kottayam concluded on 24 December 2022. Shri. V.N. Vasavan, Minister for Cooperation and Culture, Government of Kerala inaugurated the valedictory function. The Minister said that Kudumbashree National Saras Mela, which is a success of women's determination and organization, has indeed created a history. He was inaugurating the concluding session of the Kudumbashree National Saras Mela held for 10 days at Nagampadam of Kottayam.
 
As a result of the collaboration, the Saras Mela has achieved a turnover of more than Rs 7 crores. With public participation, display and marketing of various products, a variety of foods were brought to the masses and could compete with any other Saras Mela. It has become a fair that can be enjoyed by people from all sections of the district. The Minister also said that we have been able to provide quality products at the lowest prices. The Minister also appreciated Kudumbashree for making Saras Mela a success. The Minister also distributed Media Awards, Awards for the Best Stalls, plaques and letters of appreciation during the occasion.
 
Ms. Nirmala Jimmy, President, Kottayam District Panchayath presided over the function. Ms. Bincy Sebastian, Chairperson, Kottayam Municipality, Shri. Jafar Malik IAS, Executive Director, Kudumbashree, Ms. K.V Bindu, Member, Kottayam District Panchayath, Shri. Abhilash Diwakar, District Mission Coordinator, Kudumbashree Kottayam District Mission, Ms. Sreeja Anil, Member, Kottayam Municipality, Ms. Ajitha Gopakumar, Chairperson, Kottayam North CDS, Ms. P.G. Jyothimol, Chairperson, Kottayam South CDS also participated in the function.
 

'Idukki Unique' was selected as the Best Food Stall from Kerala and 'Orchid' from Sikkim was selected as the Best Non-State Food Stall. Lakshya Juice Stall from Ernakulam, led by Ms Amrita, transgender entrepreneur received a special mention.  'Krishnanjali Coconut Shell Craft' from Kollam was selected as the Best Marketing Stall from Kerala and Annapurani SHG Jute Bag Stall from Tamil Nadu was selected as the Best Non-State Marketing Stall. Shri. V.N. Vasavan, Minister, distributed the Awards for the stalls.

Extreme Poverty Determination Scheme - NHG Level Campaign starts

A special campaign by Kudumbashree has been launched on 16 December 2022 to ensure timely access to services to the beneficiaries as a continuation of the completed extreme poverty determination process with a target of eradicating extreme poverty in five years.

Food, safe shelter, basic income and health conditions have been considered as the main factors behind the aggravation of extreme poverty. Micro-level plans are also prepared for each beneficiary family to lift the families and individuals identified through the extreme poverty determination process out of extreme poverty.

The micro plan prepared in this way includes all the factors such as survival needs, infrastructure, health care, income, development needs etc to solve extreme poverty. The Resource Mobilization Micro plan also explains the practical guidelines for the implementation of the project.

The Kudumbashree organization system is responsible for verifying that the services are available to the beneficiaries on time and reporting to the Local Self Government Institution if the services are not provided on time. The campaign is to ensure the necessary services to the very poor by working together with the organizational system from NHG, ADS and CDS, District Mission, State Mission and the bureaucratic system.

Saras Mela kickstarted at Kottayam

Saras Mela has been kickstarted at Kottayam. Shri. M. B. Rajesh,  Minister, Local Self-Government and Excise Department, Government of Kerala inaugurated the Saras Mela being organized under the leadership of Kudumbashree at Nagampadam Ground, Kottayam on 15 December 2022. The Minister said that Kudumbashree has become a role model that no one can ignore through its activities for the quarter of a century.
 
Shri. V.N. Vasavan,  Minister of Co-operation, Culture and Registration, Government of Kerala presided over the function. He said that a 'mini' India  can be seen in Kottayam through Saras Mela and Saras Mela is a great initiative that uphold nationalism. Shri.  Thiruvanjoor Radhakrishnan, MLA,  Adv. Sebastian Kulatungal Chief Guests of the function. Dr. PK Jayashree, District Collector, Kottayam presented the topic. Shri. Jafar Malik IAS,  Executive Director, Kudumbashree welcomed the gathering.
 
Ms. Nirmala Jimmy, District Panchayat President, Kottayam, Ms Binsi Sebastian, Chairperson, Kottayam Municipality, Ms Safna Nasiruddin, Sub Collector, Kottayam, Shri Ajayan K. Menon, Secretary, Grama Panchayath Presidents Association, Ms. Cincy Parel, Kottayam Municipal Councilor, Ms Ajitha Gopakumar, Ms. PG Jyothimol, Chairpersons, Kottayam Municipal CDSs delivered the felicitations. Shri. Abhilash K. Diwakar, District Mission Coordinator, Kudumbashree Kottayam District Mission delivered the vote of thanks. 
 
The Saras Mela was started with a colorful procession from Kottayam Police Parade Ground to Nagampadam Ground at 2.30 PM. The procession was accompanied with Shinkari Melam, Panchavadyam, Nasik Doll and Band Music, and also colorful art forms like Theyyam, Mayilattam, Garudan, Kottakkavadi, Attakavadi etc. Ten thousands of people have lined up in the procession.
 
 After the opening ceremony, various art programs were also staged. Organized as part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), Saras Mela showcases a wide variety of products from entrepreneurs from all states of India. There is also an India Food Court where one can get flavors from different states. The Saras Mela will come to an end on 24 December 2022.
