Regional Review Meeting of Municipal Secretaries at Green Park (Solid Waste Treatment Plant ) Kunnamkulam

The area allocated for waste management must be strictly utilised for scientific waste management programmes. It is when this is not followed, that the surrounding bio-existence becomes oppressive and the common men become adverse to the traditional waste management processes. This can be proved with examples from Kunnamkulam Municipality.

A review meeting comprising of 31 municipal secretaries was held at an old trenching yard at Kurukkanpara (presently Green park) on 24.01.2020. Once, this was a place where the neighbourhood people could not eat food without lighting incense sticks or perfumes, and it was difficult to enter the trenching yard without covering your nose with hands. The review meeting was conducted when the waste was being treated as usual on one side. But the cozy corners in the green park was comfortable for the officials to make a fruitful discussion on the development and the problems faced by their respective LSGIs. Normally, such meetings are conducted in assembly halls with classy ambience and amenities. We don’t believe that meetings of this kind must be held in such waste management hubs. But it is a vivid example to prove that we have such hygienic, high quality waste management hubs which are not abhorrent and repugnant ones. It once again exhorts that we are on the right path.
